Scent

Each creature’s Scent trait specifies its range. Passive detection and active tracking use that range.

Passive Detection

When a hidden or invisible creature enters Scent range, the creature with Scent is no longer Flat-Footed against that specific attacker and retains its full Dexterity bonus to AC. The attacker cannot apply precision damage based on being unseen by that creature.

Passive detection does not pinpoint the target’s location.

Active Tracking

Pinpoint a creature within Scent range with a contested Survival check against its Survival check. This requires a Move Action; Swift Tracker allows the user to do so as a Free Action. A check is required even when the target is adjacent.

On a success, determine the exact 5-ft square occupied by the target. This reveals its location, not its appearance.

Attacking a Pinpointed Target

Pinpointing an invisible creature does not remove its Total Concealment. Attacks against its square still have a 50% miss chance, unless another effect removes that chance.
