At 1st level, you can communicate simple ideas with ordinary animals. This does not compel them to help you or make them understand complex concepts.
At 6th level, you gain one animal companion. Choose an ordinary animal; it uses an appropriate animal creature stat block selected with the GM. The companion is friendly to you and follows simple commands. It shares your initiative and acts immediately after you. Directing it to attack, use a special ability, or perform a complex task requires a Standard Action from you. Without direction, it can move to remain near you or take the Defend action, but it does not attack.
If your companion dies, you can bond with another suitable animal after a Long Rest. You can have only one companion at a time.
At 10th level, while your companion is within 1 mile, you can use a Standard Action to perceive through its senses until the start of your next turn. You are Deafened and Blinded to your own surroundings while doing so.
At 14th level, when an attack roll is made against a creature within 5 feet of your companion, your companion can use its Reaction before the result is resolved to impose a -2 penalty on the attack roll. The companion must be conscious and able to move.
At 18th level, you can direct your companion to attack, use a special ability, or perform a complex task as a Move Action instead of a Standard Action. The companion can still take only one attack action per turn.
At 20th level, once per turn you can direct your companion as a Free Action. When your companion hits a creature, choose one ally within 5 feet of it. That ally gains a +2 Supernatural bonus on their next attack roll against that creature before the start of your next turn. This bonus does not stack with itself.
