Prepared Traps

Class: Ranger 3 (Trapper)

You can prepare a number of traps per Short Rest equal to 1 + your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1). Preparing a trap takes 1 minute and requires tools and materials. A prepared trap lasts until it is triggered or until you complete a Long Rest.

When you prepare a trap, choose a 5-foot square within reach. The trap is concealed. A creature that enters the square triggers it unless it succeeds on a Perception check against a DC of 10 + half your Ranger level (rounded down) + your Wisdom modifier. The trap’s save DC uses the same formula.

Your basic Snare forces the triggering creature to attempt a Reflex save. On a failure, it becomes Entangled until the end of its next turn. On a success, it is unaffected, and the trap is expended either way.

Quick Set

Class: Ranger 5 (Trapper)

You can prepare and place a basic Snare as a Standard Action instead of taking 1 minute. The trap must be placed in an unoccupied square within 10 feet.

Binding Snare

Class: Ranger 9 (Trapper)

When a creature fails its save against your Snare, it is also knocked Prone.

Layered Traps

Class: Ranger 13 (Trapper)

You can place two prepared traps in the same 5-foot square. Resolve them in the order you placed them. Each trap expends one use of Prepared Traps.

Masterwork Traps

Class: Ranger 17 (Trapper)

The save DC of your traps increases by 2. You can also choose for your Snare to deal 2d6 piercing damage on a failed save.

Master Trapper

Class: Ranger 20 (Trapper)

When you roll initiative, you can immediately place one prepared trap in an unoccupied square within 10 feet without spending an action. This trap expends a use of Prepared Traps and follows its normal trigger rules.
